Minor Skin Surgery

Minor Skin Surgery

Wellbeing offers Minor Surgery for a range of skin conditions, from our Tollgate Clinic in Colchester, Essex. Our experienced medical professionals will discuss your condition and treatment options with you, so that you can make an informed decision about your care and take advantage of fast access to a safe service. All of our procedures are outpatient services and will not require general anaesthetic.

To aid in the diagnosis of skin conditions, our clinicians are specially trained in the use of a Digital Dermatoscope. This specialised piece of equipment illuminates and magnifies the surface detail of the skin, giving the clinician a clear visual of the area and increasing the speed and accuracy of diagnosis compared with using the naked eye.

If you already have a diagnosis and are looking for treatment options, your clinician will discuss any previous treatment you may have had and find the treatments to achieve your goals.

We commonly treat a variety of benign skin conditions including:

  • Benign moles
  • Lipomas - soft, fatty lumps under the skin
  • Sebaceous cysts
  • Skin tags
  • Spider naevi - small clumps of blood vessels which appear on the surface of the skin
  • Verrucas

If you have a problem that is not listed above, you are more than welcome to book an appointment with us. If our clinicians are not able to help, we will be happy to advise on other treatments and where they are available.

Treatment information:

Lesions located on the face
The facial area contains many sensitive structures. In order to ensure that treatment can be performed without unnecessary scaring or complications, we recommend that if you would like to discuss multiple areas, that a consultation be booked dedicated to this area.

Biopsy and histology
If you have a pigment lesion (mole), our clinicians will take a biopsy that will be sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results will then be returned to the clinic and you will be contacted to discuss the findings and the recommended treatment options.

Sutures are usually not required for minor surgical procedures, but if they are needed, we use soluble stitches which means that you will not need to book a return appointment to have them removed.

Customer Feedback...

  • My Mum attended A&E on Sunday as she was feeling dizzy and unwell.  She had a thorough check over and was discharged but told that her ears were blocked.  She attended her GP on Monday who could not help, I phoned Wellbeing on Tuesday morning and was able to an appointment with Jo later that day and it has made a huge improvement for her. Many thanks.

I'd been putting off going to my GP for a very long time but when my wife mentioned Wellbeing and that I could get an appointment the same week I thought I might as well go for it. I'm so glad I did, my Wellbeing Audiologist was so knowledgeable and took the time to explain both the Microsuction procedure and my condition to me. Understanding why my ears give me so much trouble also put my mind at rest, which has made me a lot happier

  • The speed of service, the professionalism shown and the care taken to assess my injuries were second to none. The advice given by Wellbeing helped vastly speed up my recovery and the ongoing support has been invaluable.

Thank you for seeing and assessing me so promptly. You really put my mind at ease and prevented an unnecessary trip to the GP which as it turns out would not have yielded any benefit or sorted out the problem I came to you about.

  • I found your service thorough and professional. Additionally, I was really delighted to be able to have the time to discuss fully the issues with such an experienced professional. Indeed, following the assessment the advice and treatment you recommended appear to have sorted out a long term problem that was getting worse and causing me increasing pain and discomfort. Many thanks.
